Advantages in Professional Education Over Academic Education

Graduates of our programs pass international examinations. Thus, they are awarded two certificates: one from APC, and another from the corresponding certifying institute. This double certification enables our graduates to work everytwhere in the world.

Professional education equips people with on-the-job skills, knowledge and competencies that they need to actually perform tasks at professional levels. It usually provides a profession rather than just certificates to students. Many people have multiple certificates from powerful universities and yet when it comes to getting actual practical work done they become incapacitated. However, graduates of professional programs are far away from such fate. They are confident with practical work as that is the focus of their education and training, i.e. hands-on oriented and competency based. Thus, regardless of how many university certificates an individual holds, it is very important for him/her to add to the credentials professional qualifications in order to become a well-rounded professional.

Furthermore, questions for the examinations of professional qualifications are set outside Ghana for examinees located all over the world. This has two main advantages: examination questions cannot leak, meaning a student passes based on merit; global examination also promotes international benchmarking of performance so students can be proud that they rank internationally.

Certificate in ICT Foundations (CIF): Syllabus

This is the first course in ICT (Information & Communications Technology) which every body needs. Some people have been using ICT but have not learned it Methodically. Thus, they do not have a solid footing in the field and do some basic tasks in a haphazard or try-and-error fashion. This is a practically-oriented course which teaches participants systematic computer literacy. It introduces students to the foundational knowledge in Information Technology, and its enabler, computers. Further, it equips students with the requisite skills and knowledge to be functional users of computer hardware, software, networks, the worldwide web (WWW) and the Internet. The course has three parts.

Part 1 covers computer fundamentals and topics include internal hardware systems, components of a computer, types of computers, keyboard shortcuts, power and environmental protection, maintaining and troubleshooting of computer applications.

Part 2 introduces students how to use common computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word for text editing and report writing, Power Point for computer presentations, and Excel for data analysis, and Access for organizing data).

Part 3 topics, collectively referred to as Living Online, include E-Mail Systems, social media and their use to communicate/collaborate over the Internet, Computer &am Information Security and safe & legal use of the Internet.

The course covers the syllabi of the two main international certifications on digital literacy: Microsoft Digital Literacy (MDL) and Certiport’s Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3). Participants of this course can thus sit these exams at their own will in addition to passing the standard exam for the course.
